147 # Enjoy the Laurie Baker architecture and some good vegetarian food at Sarovaram

Laurie Baker is a German, who introduced the Laurie baker style of low cost construction in Kerala, by incorporating the locally available raw material and construction techniques combined well with the modern architectural concepts. Recently I visited the Sarovaram hotel on the Edappally bypass road after Vytilla junction for lunch. They serve decent vegetarian lunch for Rs.90 (approx 2 USD) per plate, and it is served on plantain leaves following the traditional Kerala style. Laurie Baker was a British born architect who became a citizen of India. He did not desin Sarovaram. It is the work of Mr Jaigopal who did work with Mr Baker in the 80s.
