Go to varapuzha by boat from ernakulam

I have not done this for a while now, and will do it soon. A decade back around 15 boats were plying this route and now it is just one boat. The suburban kochi comprising of small islands like pizhala, kothad, mulavukad, varapuzha, cheranellore were all dependent on this boat service to commute to ernakulam, the nearest city. Now they ate all connected to the mainland by bridges which made them depend lesser on the boat service. The main attractions in and around varapuzha are;

Visit to old puthenpally church which is more than two centuries old.

Visit varapuzha church, which is also more than two centuries

Koonammavu church

An evening cycling or walk through kadamakudy, enjoying the vast paddy fields which double up as prawn farms for six months of the year.

Since cherai beach is hardly 15 km from varapuzha, it can be a good idea if you club it in your itinery.

The boats start from the ernakulam boat jetty.
