Visit munambam beach

Today we visited the munambam beach

Munambam is a place near the north end of Vypeen Island, surrounded by the Arabian sea on the west, periyar river on the east, and a mouth of the sea on the north. The occupation of the inhabitants is fishing. Munambam is known for it's major fishing harbour. It is also the mouth of the major river periyar. 

We reached there late, and the sunset was over, it was pretty dark, and the photographer in me had to work through the adverse conditions to get some reasonably good photographs which I am publishing here. Ideally one should reach here during the golden hour between 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm. 

To do list 

Have some good sea food from the kudumbashree stall. 

Sit idle and enjoy the cool breeze 

Capture some great photographs 

If like fishing, attempt fishing (you must bring the fishing rod)

Watch the fishermen operating the Chinese nets

Watch the fishing boats coming in one by one, after a day's catch

Catch with your exercise program, by burning some calories with brisk walking

Carry your own bottle of water. If you are going there on day time, an umbrella or cap will come in handy. 

The wayside eateries provide excellent sea food like tapioca with mathi curry, kallummakaya, fish fry etc, at reasonable prices. Will be going there again to capture some more photographs in ideal lighting for photography. A nice place to spend a peaceful evening. I will be going there again. If you like only beaches, then take the road connecting the vypeen, pallipuram, njarakkal, cherai and munambam beaches. If you are a budget traveller, then you can stretch the rupee quite a lot  by taking the munambam bus starting from the high court bus stand of ernakulam (kochi city).

Lights are on till 7.30 p.m. The gates are open till 9 pm
