Bird watching at Kadamakudy

Kadamakudy is a group of small islands on the suburbs of Kochi city. Since I stay very close to it, I am blessed with the opportunity to visit this place frequently. Kadamakudy is known for it's prawn farms (Chemmeen kettu) and the paddy cultivation. For six months of the year, the wet lands are used for prawns farming, and the remaining six months for paddy cultivation. Now it is the peak birding season here, and here are a couple of clicks for you. There is nothing to beat the early morning cycling through the not so crowded kadamakudy road. Do not forget to carry your cameras.

How to reach?
By bus
Take any bus going to North Paravur side from Ernakulam , through Varapuzha. Get down at SNDP junction. Take an auto rikshaw or rent a cycle.

By own vehicle

Take NH17 towards Varapuzha bridge (very close to Lulu mall)
Immediately after crossing the Varapuzha bridge, take a left turn at the SNDP junction
Take a left again at the next junction
Then take the first right..you are there.

You are welcome to contact me for any guidance.
